SALT TREATMENT for your Baby's Umbilical Granuloma

What is umbilical granuloma?
According to Summit Medical Group, an umbilical granuloma is a red ball of tissue that stays on your baby's bellybutton after the umbilical cord falls off. Without treatment, it will ooze and irritate your baby for several months.
baby's navel with umbilical granuloma

My baby was diagnosed with having an umbilical granuloma. The surgeon advised me to undergo my baby with the silver nitrate stick treatment. He told me it was not that difficult to remove it. So I was looking for that thing he prescribed. I went to different pharmacies here in Dumaguete City and got nothing. Eventhough, the doctor told me it might be difficult to get it but still I tried my luck and failed.

I went home worried-sicked. I am a first time mom and that situation happened to me. So I started researching the internet for alternative cure other than the silver nitrate stick. I came up to foreign articles about salt treatment and how effective it is according to the users' reviews. I decided to try it.

After 30mins. of the application, I saw the granuloma becoming more dark red. So I thought that it might be working. I cleaned baby's navel after 30mins. with a clean warm water and soap with a cotton buds and left it opened. In the evening I checked again, wow I was amazed by the result. The granuloma turned completely black and dying. It was like the blood inside it was squeezed out.

The next day, since the granuloma did not fall off, I decided to do the treatment one more time for 10mins. During the cleaning process, the black dried leafover from the granuloma fell off. Wow!! It was really fast. Kuddos to salt treatment. My baby did not experience pain and uneasiness. It was definitely worth a try.

If you have a baby with umbilical granuloma, maybe you consider this treatment. Just saying..but of course, if you are not comfortable. Better follow what your doctor is telling you.

Goodluck.

PS: There are many articles about how to apply salt treatment to your precious baby's navel. But if you are curious how I did it, please comment below. :-)

    1. SALT APPLICATION

Clean your baby's navel with cotton buds and agua oxynada (hydrogen peroxide). While your baby is asleep, apply a pinch of table salt only to the granuloma for maximum of 30mins daily for 3 days only and always clean it thoroughly after every application with cotton buds and hydrogen peroxide. do not cover the navel if possible.. hope this help :)

    1. Hi. Nun nilagyan mo po ng salt yung granuloma ng baby mo, normal lang na magkakaroon sya ng foul smell. Gusto ko itry kasi may granuloma din baby ko. Thank you in advance.

    2. H Diana, before you put a pinch of table salt on your baby's granuloma, make sure to clean it thoroughly first. May foul smell naman talaga if may granuloma..but in my baby's case, now a toddler, hindi ko inamoy so not really sure about the smell after the application.

    6. Actually two application lang po ang ginawa ko, max 30 minutes lang po mag-stay ang salt sa navel ng baby tapos e clean mo ng mabuti para walang matirang salt sa navel. Nakakairita po kasi yon ng balat..

    1. Hello Eve, make sure that during the application, natutulog ang baby nyo po at ilagay lang ang salt on top of the granuloma..di naman po maiwasan na mahulog yong iba sa navel mismo kaya kailangang e clean talaga yon ng mabuti using cotton buds with either mild baby soap or hydrogen peroxide. Hope this helps po..

  15. To everyone who are still worried if rhis treatment in ineffective. Pls do not push yourself to do so. I for one marami na akong napuntahan at nilagay sa umbilical ni baby still didnt work out. The last resort is to check some parents na nakakarxperience ng ganito coz it sholdnt be like that na walang remedy and I know we cant bearto see our kid suffering with an open wound sa navel nya yet we suffer the stress and budget to make them heal. So when I started to googled the net about this case I came across one post to another post saying the salt treatment is effective. As you can see i still have doubts when i asked the author of this blog about how to do it pls browse above 2018. After keeping my mind clear to try this treatment after 1 week it didnt happen to heal then continued till another week with PRAYERS and voila it just dried up. Now 2019 na tumutulong aq sa mga mommys around my neighbor whenever I know na my same case sila nd sometimes when i see some post asking for a treatment with sa same cases sa mga mommys group s fb i pm them not to stir and get bash coz we all have diff reactions lalo na kung di naman lahat ng mommys nakakaranas ng case natin. If you will ask me why here Ms Jewls, xe alam ko katulad ko last year napunta aq sa page na to coz am seeking for an alternative remedy for my kid when almost all sort of gamot daw ay natry ko na. Godbless everyone.

    1. basta malinis ang navel ni baby and ung salt na gagamitin mo. at first nakakatakot tignan coz magreredish and even magblbleed pa xa till maging pale color na xa and eventually mawala na ng tuluyan ung flesh sa navel nya.
