Get Rid of Your Dog's Mange with Sulfur Soap
Dog's Mange, which is known as Scabies in humans, is highly contagious both to humans and other pets. Dogs that are affected with sarcoptic mange usually displays these symptoms:
- Intense scratching. Because of the itch, the dog has to scratch or even bite the affected area which resulted to wounding it.
- Redness of the skin. The affected area become red and swollen and so-warm to touch. That is the result of the burrowing of the mites.
- Green-colored eye discharge. You must clean their eyes all the time cause every now and then, after cleaning, a new discharge will form. Best if you deworm them too.
- Extreme hair loss. The affected area will be the first but when the mites spread, all the hair will be removed eventually.

Caution: Dogs with sarcoptic mange are highly contagious. Protect yourself!
- Quarantine the dogs. If you have one or more infected dogs, you must place them in a secured area. Direct/indirect contact with them is not advisable.
- Wear gloves or protective clothing during your contact.
- Always clean the places where the dogs have previous contacts like benches, the floor, etc..
- Iron the clothing that has contacts with the infected dogs. If not, wait for a week until your next wear. Washing alone cannot kill the mites but they cannot survive without the contact with a flesh for a period of days.
- If you feel itchy, don't scratch it.
SULFUR soap - Home Remedy to get rid of Mange. You can get it in most drugstore and even in some supermarkets. The smallest pack cost 35 pesos or less.
Here's how: (For more than 1 infected dogs, do the procedure simultaneously.)
- Boil water in a pot. If you have more infected dogs, use the bigger one.
- Put the boiled water in a safe container and place that where you are going to bath your dog.
- Prepare the same amount of tap water to be mixed with the boiled one.
- Mix the boiled water and the tap water. Just enough that your dog will not be burned. Test it with your hand if it is not so hot.
- Start bathing your dog with that water only. Don't use any other.
- Soap your dog with SULFUR until it is very foamy.
- Let it like that for 30 minutes. The purpose of using hot water is to make the skin pores of the dog loosen. When it loosen and warm, the microscopic mites will move to the surface of the skin. The 30-minute wait will give the mites enough time to move up.
- Prepare Iced water just enough to rinse your dog until all soap is removed. Use that for rinsing. Do not use any other water. The purpose of this is to compressed the skin pores of the dog and the cold water will kill the mites instantly during their direct contact with the cold water.
- Let your dog shake itself. DO NOT use any towel or garments to dry your dog. Doing so will disturb the killing process of the mites and the rubbing will give them heat. Heat that they longed for to survive.
- Do this procedure again every time you bath your infected dog/s.
Only with the first treatment, you will already see the improvement. Your dog will not scratch so much like it was used to before the treatment.

How many times a week do I have to bathe my dog like this? I just did this procedure this morning and hopefully, it will work with him too. But I'm scared that this bathing procedure will stress him too much because he doesn't really like getting wet. Will once a week do?
ReplyDeleteMy dogs dont like bathing too but I had to do it for their sake. In my case, I did it once a day. And I believe you should do it once a day too. I sincerely hope it will work for you like it did for me.

ReplyDeleteI tried to follow a tamer version of this bec I'm afraid my dog will get sick or pneumonia. I heated water but left the soap for 5mins only, tap water to wash off, and vco after. I do this every 3 days like the vet said. But it seems she's scratching more.
ReplyDeleteSo I followed your instructions to the letter but she's shaking so bad, I'm afraid I can't keep doing this.
